Zilnik and Godina have been making films since the 60's, both together and separately. Their films openly show the lives of the disadvantaged, existences on the fringes of society, which has resulted often enough in clashes with the censors. In his famous "Crni film" (1971), Zilnik finds his own approach to the problem of homelessness, while in "Tito po drugi put medju srbima" (1994) he has an actor in Tito costume walk through the streets of Belgrade and speak to the people of the city, who are thus forced to compare two different totalitarian regimes.
Karpo Godina has worked as an editor, cameraman and director, at times assisting Jean-Luc Godard. Godina's films are filled with subversive irony, such as in "Zdravi Ljudi Za Razonodu" (1971), a satire on the life of the Serbs, Croats, Czechs, Hungarians and other groups populating the Vojvodina, or in "Gratinirani Mozak Pupilije Ferkeverk" (1970), a pop epos on the theme of men's fashion. The Short Film Festival is presenting three programs with films by both directors.
