Nicolás Echevarría began to make films following the massacre at Tlatelolco in 1968. One of Mexico’s foremost filmmakers, Echevarría combines a post-colonial perspective with carefully chosen music, camerawork and montage elements. From a performance Super 8 film about a contortionist to an engaging documentary on Indian creation myths, his approach to his subjects always demonstrates profound empathy, redefining what is inside and outside.
