sixpackfilm was founded in 1990 as a non-profit institution. The primary purpose is the international promotion of the current Austrian film and video production. sixpackfilm now cooperates with 200 festivals around the world, which results in over 500 invitations annually. Besides that sixpackfilm is active in distribution – the programme currently includes more than 1.100 titles –, tours of domestic productions and presentations of international film and video art in Vienna. In 2004 sixpackfilm founded together with Medienwerkstatt Wien the DVD Label INDEX.
