Founded in 1980, Vtape is an international distribution and resource centre with an emphasis on the contemporary media arts. Vtape represents over 1,000 artists and carries almost 5,000 titles. On-site facilities include a screening room and research stations for viewing and an extensive library of print materials available to the general public. Vtape also provides specialised exhibition support and equipment rentals to galleries, curators and individual artists. Vtape has developed the bi-lingual educational website "Video art in Canada" and maintains an active commitment to the preservation and restoration of all formats of early video art.
