This year's International Short Film Festival Oberhausen is venturing out onto new ground: besides holding events at the festival cinema, the Lichtburg Filmpalast in Oberhausen, the festival will also partner with other organizations to host a variety of readings and art projects at venues across Oberhausen.
"Filmgeflacker" – a Skribble Gebibble project
The group Skribble Gebibble will be hosting two events under the title "Filmgeflacker": On 30 April starting at 9 pm there will be a programme of festival films and a talk with the filmmakers, followed by a party, on 2 May starting at 2 pm, Filmgeflacker will show animated films and conduct a workshop where audience members can make their own films.
bar20zehn - the pop-up bar
The art café bar20zehn at Fabrik K 14 will open its doors daily from 11 am during the festival. Breakfast, snacks and cake will be on offer in the courtyard of the Fabrik, and a changing programme will be presented each evening, featuring readings, DJs and short films from the area.

Poetry Slam: Poetry goes short film
For the fourth time, one evening of the festival will be devoted to a Poetry Slam. Wolf Hogekamp, one of the pioneers on the German poetry slam scene and as filmmaker already featured twice in the German Competition, will open the evening with his latest DVD of poetry clips. In the second part of the evening, the legendary Short Film Patron Slam will be presented. Here, six slammers each act as patron for one of the films in the German Competition and write an exclusive poem about it. First the film is screened, and then the poem is presented.
GastGastgeber
This Dutch project is part of RUHR.2010 and involves the Dutch, themselves guests in the Ruhr region, taking on the role of guest hosts – in German: "GastGastgeber". Dutch star designer Jurgen Bey will design several rooms in the Solar Tower of Oberhausen's main station. Visitors can view the rooms by day, and at night they will be available to festival guests who have always dreamt of sleeping in a total work of art. In cooperation with K.i.T. e.V. (Kunst im Turm – Art in the Tower). The rooms can be viewed from 1 to 4 May from 2 - 5 pm.
