589 new short film minutes for the cinema:
Presenting Oberhausen’s new distribution catalogue
In its new distribution catalogue, the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen is presenting 51 acquisitions from this year’s festival, including, for the first time, short films for children. In addition, the festival has retrieved a few rarely-seen works from its short film archive: award-winning political animations from the years 1964–89 and short films on the theme of immigration. Excerpts of all films in distribution are available for preview in Oberhausen’s online Videotheque or in the Distribution section of the festival's website.
New in the programme are prize winners and other outstanding works from the competitions at the 57th Festival, which can be borrowed either individually or in ready-to-screen feature-length programmes. Along with a choice of titles from the International and German Competitions, Oberhausen has once again curated a line-up of artists’ films and videos; as always, all candidates for this year’s MuVi Award for best German music video are available, this year for the first time with bonus videos from the festival’s selection of international music videos.
The first programme of children’s films distributed by Oberhausen is geared toward children aged six and older, featuring films without text or dialogue that can be understood everywhere. For the archive compilation “Surreal/Political”, the festival has culled award-winning animated works on political themes from its archive, among them classics like Helmut Herbst’s “Schwarz-weiß-rot” (Black-White-Red), Zbigniew Rýbczynski’s “Tango”, Walerian Borowczyk’s “Les Jeux des anges” and Jan Švankmajer’s “The Death of Stalinism in Bohemia”
Oberhausen’s distribution service is non-commercial and works on an international scale. The catalogue can be ordered by sending an e-mail to info@kurzfilmtage.de or downloaded as a PDF file on http://www.kurzfilmtage.de/en/distribution/programme.html.
