While Agnès Varda was living with Jacques Demy in California in 1968, she made a film in Oakland about the Black Panthers and the protests against the imprisonment of Huey P. Newton. The print in the Oberhausen archive is the one brought in 1970 by Amos Vogel, who corresponded with Agnès Varda from the time of her first films and distributed Black Panthers and others of her works via Cinema 16 and Grove Press.
