Taking original video footage of whanau (family) and whenua (land), New Zealand Māori artist Jamie Berry overlays digital patterns and motifs to interweave past and present. The soundtrack is generated using the artist’s DNA as a score. Berry’s layering of image and sound presents an indigenous worldview of collective wellbeing and ‘whakapapa’, a Māori concept that celebrates connections with land and people across time.
