The 70th edition of the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen will take place from 1 to 6 May 2024 in Oberhausen. Our Theme programme will revolve around sport films, featuring historic sport films from the archives of the “Sportfilmtage” Oberhausen (1968-1977), the FWU (Institut für Film und Bild in Wissenschaft und Unterricht) and the Kinemathek im Ruhrgebiet. Our Profiles are dedicated to Mox Mäkelä (Finland), Davorin Marc (Slovenia), Abraham Ravett (USA) and John Torres (Philippines); The current political situation and changing conditions of (film) festivals today will be examined in a conference entitled “Longing for Freedom from Contradiction. Culture and the Public” and a series of panels exploring the question “Why Festivals?”
The accreditation deadline is 25 April 2024.

Accreditation includes access to all public film programmes and festival events as well as the Video Library of the Festival (in Oberhausen during the Festival, online after the event only for accredited visitors).
The accreditation fee is 50 euros. Please note that the accreditation fee will be waived in the case of journalists writing about the festival. In this case, please submit a letter or e-mail of confirmation from your editor to our press office by 17 April 2024 at the latest.
