First competition films selected
Thirteen works set to compete in the International Competition
In a first selection round, the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen has chosen thirteen works for its International Competition 2022. Among them are eight world premieres; five titles will be shown for the first time outside their country of production. Works from all five continents have made it into the selection. More short films will be added after the final submission deadline on 1 February 2022; all in all, the Festival will be presenting around 45 works in this competition.

“We were impressed by the quality of submissions so far”, comments Hilke Doering, head of the Oberhausen International Competitions. “And we’re happy to see a number of filmmakers again who have already presented works at our Festival in previous years, including Elodie Pong, who last competed in 2007 with Je suis une bombe, or Phạm Nguyễn Anh Tú, who was in our International Competition as recently as 2020 with không đề #2.
Submissions for all competitions of the 68th International Short Film Festival Oberhausen are still open. The deadline for submissions to the online competitions is 3 January 2022, for the on-site competitions 1 February 2022.
