International Short Film Festival Oberhausen
3sat and Oberhausen agree on new cooperation
The International Short Film Festival Oberhausen and the broadcaster 3sat are relaunching their cooperation. Key elements of the partnership will be a prize in the German Competition endowed by 3sat and the purchase of additional award-winning films from the festival programme. These will be broadcast on 3sat, along with other short films, in the context of the upcoming 67th Festival.
3sat will continue to award a short film prize in the German Competition of the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen. From 2021, the “3sat Promotional Prize” will be replaced by the “3sat Emerging Talent Prize”. Like its predecessor, the prize will be endowed with 2,500 euros and include an option to purchase the award-winning film for the network’s linear programme.
As a new part of the agreement, the broadcaster will annually purchase two other award-winning films for its programmes from 2021. Both productions will be broadcast on 3sat along with the winner of the “3sat Emerging Talent Prize” and other short films. In 2021, the winner of the 3sat Promotional Award 2020 will also be broadcast.
The partners have also agreed to jointly develop new forms of cooperation in addition to the new agreement. This cooperation is a re-launch of the long-term partnership between the Festival and 3sat that was in place from 1999 to 2020.
The 67th International Short Film Festival Oberhausen will take place from 1 to 10 May 2021.
