Oberhausen on Tour 2019
Short Films on Five Continents
The eleventh edition of Oberhausen on Tour starts on 8 February
Every two years, Oberhausen sends short films from its programmes out into the world under the title "Oberhausen on Tour". With 61 venues in 55 cities and 24 countries on five continents, the eleventh edition of Oberhausen on Tour has grown again (2017: 55 venues in 22 countries). Newcomers include New Zealand and South Korea. A traditional focus is on Latin America (seven venues in Colombia, Mexico and Chile alone); the Czech Republic is also very well represented with four dates. In Germany, Oberhausen on Tour will stop in 20 cities; the tour will kick off on 8 February 2019 with Weltecho Chemnitz's "German Competition 2018" programme.
The spectrum of venues ranges from arthouse cinemas, municipal cinemas, Goethe Institutes and film festivals to renowned art institutions such as the MUU Galleria in Helsinki or WORM in Rotterdam through to the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery in New Zealand's New Plymouth.
A total of more than 50 short films and music videos will go on tour in feature-length short film programmes: "International Competition 2018", "German Competition 2018", "MuVi Award 2018", "Award Winners 2018" and "Artist Film 2018" will present award winners and highlights from the festival programmes of the 64th Short Film Festival Oberhausen. For the two programmes "Made in Germany", Oberhausen has compiled German short films on the themes of A New Home and Inner City Life. In addition, there are a number of children's film programmes specially compiled for interested venues.
The International Short Film Festival Oberhausen would like to thank all its partners and in particular the Goethe Institutes in Bogotá, Dar es Salaam, Johannesburg, Madrid, Mexico City, Prague, Santiago de Chile and Tirana for their commitment to Oberhausen on Tour.
