Internationale Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen

Accessibility

The festival offers some of its programmes barrier-free for people with hearing or visual impairments. For people with hearing impairments, the Youth Cinema of the festival (12 years and older) shows all films with subtitles in "Simple Language" and sign language interpreters translate the moderations and Q&As. This also includes all school screenings from the age of 12.

Furthermore, this year's festival will have a screening for all those who can't read yet, with films from 6 years on. Sign language interpreters will be faded in on the screen to translate what is spoken in the film. The programme will be shown to a family audience at the weekend.

Starting in 2019, the festival will open two programmes for people with visual impairments. The festival will provide an audio description via headphones for both programmes of the NRW competition. These programmes are aimed at adults aged 18 and over.

The inclusion efforts of the festival are supported by Aktion Mensch.
