Internationale Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen

A Different Perspective

A different and interesting look at the the films in the festival programme is presented by participants of the International Integration Café Oberhausen who compile a film programme as a group. Five to ten participants of different ages sift through a selection and then present their favourites to the festival audience. Working with the programme gives them an opportunity to deal with culture in general and the language of moving images in particular.

The discussions are held in German so that the participants can develop their language skills. Better language skills, working independently, contact with festival visitors and the final presentation of the selected films strengthen their self-confidence and social integration.

A Different Perspective was created in 2018 in cooperation with the Sprachcafé in the Zentrum Altenberg. In 2019 the cooperation was extended to the Integration Café with the terre des hommes group in Oberhausen. New in 2020: All films are suitable for children from the age of 6. Now even the younger participants of the Integration Café can view these films and present their own selection at the festival.
