Internationale Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen

A Different Perspective

Curated by refugees

A different and interesting look at the current competition entries is presented by refugees who curate a film programme as a group. Five to ten participants sift through a selection and then present their favourites to the festival audience. The examination of the programme gives them the opportunity to deal with culture in general and the image of Germany in particular.

The discussions are held in German so that the refugees can develop their language skills. A better understanding of the language, independent work, contact to the festival visitors and the final presentation of the selected films strengthen the self-confidence and the social integration of the refugees.

A Different Perspective was created in 2018 in cooperation with the Sprachcafé in the ZentrumAltenberg. For 2019 it is planned to extend the cooperation to the Integration Café with the terre des hommes group in Oberhausen.
