Oberhausen in a nutshell

The Short Film Festival in a nutshell
From 30 April to 3 May our two online competitions will run. From 4 May we continue in the cinema, where our five traditional competitions with a total of 163 short films will be shown:

•    International Competition
•    German Competition
•    NRW Competition
•    Children's and Youth Film Competition
•    MuVi Award

The competitions are made up of individual programmes, in each of which different films are shown. For example, there are 8 different programmes with usually 5-6 films in the International Competition. In the Children's and Youth Film Competition, the different programmes are composed according to age groups, and only in the MuVi Award are all music videos shown together. The award ceremonies from these competitions take place on Saturday (MuVi), Sunday (Children's and Youth) and Monday (all others in the big award ceremony) .

There are also many other programmes that can be watched parallel to these competitions. For example, our Profile series, where several films by one artist are shown together, the programmes of film distributors who present their offerings, film archives that select special films or our respective thematic programme. There are performative events, discussions and a relaxed conclusion in the evening in our festival bar.
