The Big Shave
Since 2017, we have been presenting our 'Legendary Shorts' here on Facebook and on our channel: iconic and groundbreaking short films from our festival history that spans more than 60 years. Slowly but surely we are reaching the end of our Legendary Shorts list, which is why we are now introducing our new concept: OBERHAUSEN REVISITED. We have sifted through the Internet in order to find and present even more available films from our festival history.
From 1 January 2022 onward, we will share our latest finds in chronological order, starting with the very beginnings of our festival and steadily moving forward through the decades. With Legendary Shorts, we presented short films of iconic proportions; now we want to shine a light on those films that may have escaped due consideration in the past, but which have invariably also shaped our festival and the history of short film.
However, as befits the name, Legendary Shorts will go out with a bang: We have selected five previous Legendary Shorts that represent the programme's range for all remaining Sundays of this year, starting with Martin Scorcese's THE BIG SHAVE, which, even in the absence of mob-related violence, shows the director's early fascination with all things bloody.
