Labs is a festival section, formatted as an annual showcase of recent works by labs from around the world, a small realm in Oberhausen where all films have to be screened from celluloid prints. A condition that cannot be transposed to an online context.
But Labs was also formatted as a physical space where the various collective labs could talk to us and to each other and introduce who they are and what they do. This is transferred here, into the Channel. The current conditions may limit our ability to present films in the preferred conditions but still allow us to exchange ideas. Labs Radio is the interim substitute of Labs and will present fewer films but more conversations till we can meet again with sprocket holes and light-cones.
