Arrival in Europe
65 Years of Recruiting Turkish Workers

On 28 October 2026, together with the Office for Intercultural Affairs of the City of Oberhausen, we invite you to the Lichtburg cinema in Oberhausen. The occasion marks the signing of the recruitment agreement with Turkey on 30 October 1961, which we will commemorate with an evening of film screenings and discussions.
Before the programme, there will be live music by Hayola at the Makai restaurant on Elsässer Strasse, followed by a move to the Lichtburg at 6 pm, where Mayor Sonja Bongers will open the film programme. The subsequent discussions will be moderated by Madeleine Bernstorff.
