Experiences with football on television - Marcel Reif in conversation with Dietrich Leder
Marcel Reif, born in Poland in 1949, moved to Kaiserslautern with his parents via Israel as a child, worked in the ZDF sports department from 1984, later heading up its "Sportspiegel" program and commentating on many soccer matches. In 1994, he moved to the private broadcaster RTL, which had acquired the rights to the Champions League. In 1999, he moved to the pay-TV channel Premiere, now known as Sky, where he commentated on Bundesliga and Champions League matches until 2016. Marcel Reif was awarded the Grimme Prize, the Bavarian Television Prize and the German Television Prize for his work. His autobiography "Nachspielzeit - Ein Leben mit dem Fußball", written with Holger Gertz, was published in 2017. On January 31, 2024, Marcel Reif spoke to the German Bundestag on the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of National Socialism about his Jewish father's experiences during the time of the German Destruction of the European Jews.
