Peter Hoffmann im Gespräch mit Cyrus Kube über den Film ASOZIALE (BRD, 1970) von Gernot Eigler.
Under the auspices of South German Television (SDR) and their series „Poverty in Germany“, Gernot Eigler, in 1970, shot a film about misfits and dropouts, titled Asoziale. Eigler lived in Mannheim and had a full-time job as an occupational physician. Private relations and friendships in the context of the student-run „Filmstudio“ at the Technical University in Aachen, however, had inspired him to make films. While researching this lesser known site of independent film production in Aachen, Peter Hoffmann got in touch with Cyrus Kube, who from 1966 to 1972 was one of the driving forces behind the Filmstudio and also a collaborator on Asoziale. In the interview, Kube recalls a production setting marked by the student movement of the time as well as the German underground film scene.
