41 New Short Films in Distribution

41 new short films available for distribution
Supporting films or feature-length programmes: new short films for cinema release

41 recent short films from the competitions of our 2026 Festival are now available for distribution. These include award-winning works and highlights, productions from Germany and Europe, as well as from Japan, Rwanda or China. All titles can be hired as feature-length programmes or as supporting films. A new programme of children’s films for ages eight and above, as well as the fifth edition of the successful “Made in Germany” series, round off the new catalogue. All titles are available for in-theatre screenings and, in many cases, for online distribution as well.

The feature-length programmes:

The Elephant in the Room (International Competition 2026)
Five international productions that attempt to make the unspoken tangible, ranging from family secrets to the trauma of the Rwandan genocide.

Talking It Over (German Competition 2026)
Four films that explore their themes through dialogue, ranging from young migrants in Germany to four friends in Kyiv on the eve of the war.

MuVi Award 2026
All music videos nominated for the 2026 MuVi Award, supplemented by three outstanding international clips.

2026 Award Winners
Five award-winning films at our 72nd Festival from China, Germany, Croatia and Sweden. These include, amongst others, Opera and Hei Dong Dong (Dark Channel) from the International Competition, each of which won three awards.

Colourful Connections (for children aged eight and over)
Four stories that show how the familiar can become unfamiliar and how fantasy can become reality.

Made in Germany 5: Astonishing Narrations
New narrative approaches in German short feature films from the last 20 years.

Also available for distribution are the first four instalments of the “Made in Germany” series and a selection of programmes from the children’s and youth film section.

Details and preview clips of the films as well as terms and conditions can be found here.
