Invocation - A Visual Renga is a deeply personal self-portrait, a visual poem that provides a glimpse into the filmmaker’s obsession with nature and spirituality. Created as a series of visual haikus linked together to form what is known as a renga, over three consecutive days during the online edition of Jihlava Academy in 2020.
About the filmmaker:
Ina Sotirova is a filmmaker, TEDx speaker and media professional with 15 years of storytelling experience. Originally a documentary photographer and journalist, she specialized in documentary filmmaking at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and has since written, directed and edited award-winning short films freedom2dance (doc, 2012) and Agwe (animation, 2018), among others. A citizen of the world born in Bulgaria, Ina lives in Kingston, Jamaica, where she also teaches and mentors inner-city youths at the UWI Community Film Project and budding visual artists at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts.
