A Presentation of the Web Series "Tuko Macho" and "We Need Prayers"
The Nairobi-based Nest Collective was founded in 2012. The collective works in the fields of film, music, fashion, visual arts and literature. Its critically acclaimed queer anthology film Stories of Our Lives (2014) has been shown in over 80 countries and has won numerous awards. Another work of the collective is the groundbreaking interactive crime web series Tuko Macho, which is considered one of the best African television series. The collective has also worked with new media such as their VR film Let This Be A Warning (2017). The Nest Collective also founded the first creative business fund of its kind in Africa, HEVA, to strengthen the livelihoods of creative entrepreneurs in East Africa. The Nest's work reaches a broad audience, ranging from academics and other cultural professionals to young urban audiences, through a variety of platforms, media and spaces. The collective draws primarily from urban and contemporary African experiences, but also reflects global issues and contexts.
